The ASSE meeting was held April 1st, at 11:30, at Mike’s Steakhouse. The speaker was Dave Thomas. He is with the University of Lafayette, and spoke on implementing LEAN to reduce incidents and cost. It was a very good presentation. This one of the best attended meetings this fiscal year.
There was an open discussion on TWIC requirements addressing both reguatory and customer requirements. We also discussed problems and issues the group was having & suggestions were made from the members.
The NSU awards banquet is scheduled for April 28th.

Our guest speaker was Mr. Mike Bradshaw. Mr. Bradshaw is a CSP and is currently the Director of Safety, Health, and Environmental Services for Danos & Curole Marine Contractors. He spoke about Hot-work Safety in the Oil and Gas Industry.

Subject: Traffic Safety.
The speaker for this meeting was Gilbert Dardar with La State Police Troop C. Some key point Officer Dardar stated:
55-60% of fatal crashes in the Troop C area are alcohol related.
LA State Troopers coordinates all land based HazMat emergencies from a public safety perspective. However, the company is responsible for cleanup.
