Hunter's Education Course
How much does the course cost?

The Hunter Education course is FREE.  ... and thanks to ASSE so is lunch.  Every year the ASSE Bayou Chapter cooks hamburgers at lunch time for the participants. Food, Drinks, & Supplies are donated to the Hunter's Ed Course by our Chapter.

On October 27 & 28, 2007 the Bayou Chapter sponsored lunch at the Hunter's Education Course held at the Terrebonne Rifle range on Savanne Rd.  Thanks to Lou Olivier, Page Durocher, Ed Price, and Heath Degruise for volinteering their time.  Safety & Training Consultants had their cooking trailer set up & Lou Olivier used the flat grill for the hamburgers.

What is hunter education?  Hunter Education is one of four Education programs offered to the public by the Information and Education Division of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.  The major objectives of the Hunter Education programs are:

Reduce the number of hunting accidents.

Improve the image of hunting through ethical and responsible conduct.

Promote the shooting sports.

Who can participate?  Anyone 10 years of age or older can participate in the 10-hour basic student course. This course requires classroom attendance, passing a written test with a score of 75 percent or better, and completing a live-fire exercise.

Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a Louisiana Hunter Education Certification Card that is recognized by all other states.
